Skymall Incents Airline Passengers to Shop on the Fly

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Skymall, Inc., the in-flight catalog company, is incenting travelers to do some shopping while flying with Continental.

For every $1 spent on a purchase from a Skymall catalog, customers get 15 OnePass miles, Continental’s frequent flyer program. Passengers must use a special order form available from flight attendants on Continental Airlines and Continental Express. The forms must be mailed within 48 hours upon landing.

Beginning last Tuesday, 60-second on-board videos promote the offer to Continental Airlines passengers while flight attendants on Continental Express will make verbal announcements after takeoff. The promotion is expected to continue indefinitely.

Skymall, founded in 1989, and a subsidiary of Gemstar TV Guide International, Inc., offers products and services through a wide range of merchants and partners. Its catalog is available on about 93% of domestic airlines.
