THERE WAS at least one small piece of good news for direct marketers this fall. On Sept. 14, the California Assembly voted down SB-773, a privacy bill that went even further than federal law.
But don’t celebrate just yet. The measure that terrified the banking industry will rear its head again in January when the legislature returns, according to Robert Herrell, a spokesman for the bill’s co-author Sen. Jackie Speier (D-Hillsborough).
