Matchmaking Proves Lovely For IAC’s Second Quarter

IAC, which operates a number of online services, took a 4% drop in revenue, from $354.2 million during second-quarter 2008 to $340 million during the quarter just ended. But the company was profitable in second-quarter 2009, recording net income of $40.4 million for the quarter, compared with a $422.1 million loss a year earlier. The quarter ended June 30.

The company realized $116.8 million from its sale of Match Europe during second quarter 2009. Additionally, second-quarter 2008 results included a $360 million charge due to discontinued operations, including its spinoff of HSN, Interval, Ticketmaster and Tree.com.
