E-mail marketing company Impower Inc., Princeton, NJ, has appointed Gregory C. Ellis president and chief operating officer. His position took effect May 15.
Ellis replaces Karen Varhley, who resigned last month after eight months as president.
Ellis will have broad management responsibilities in design, development and implementation of the firm’s direct marketing services for consumer and business-to-business marketers, the company said. He will report to Donn Rappaport, chairman and CEO. Impower, founded in 1996, is a division of American List Counsel, Princeton, NJ.
His areas of responsibility will include sales and account management, new business development, finance, product development and management, media planning and technology. He will also oversee Impower’s Datamark stored value card division.
Most recently, Ellis was employed by DoubleClick Inc., New York, where he developed the company’s research business unit. Prior to that he worked as corporate COO and CEO of the Global Market Research Unit of Opinion Research Corp.
In addition, the firm has named co-founder and former president of Impower Eric Zilling as president of ImpowerBase, the company’s e-mail database division.
In his new role, Zilling will focus exclusively on building and managing the ImpowerBase e-mail database, which provides access to almost 500 million records. He will also oversee ImpowerMail, an outsourced e-mail distribution service.
Most recently, Zilling was chief strategy officer at Impower. He will be relocating to Peterborough, NH, where the division is located.
