Nearly one in four direct marketing firms report hiring freezes, up from 31% in the fall and 20% last spring, according to an e-mail survey from Bernhart Associates Executive Search, a DM recruitment firm.
But only 6 percent of respondents said they were planning staffing reductions, down from 11% that said they were in the fall survey.
