Former Vice President Al Gore spoke last Thursday about the global warming crisis facing the planet and called on the advertising industry to lend a hand in countering the threat.
He said that a coalition of leading environmental groups, along with some religious organizations, are coming together to get the message out about the devastating impacts of global warning via a major advertising initiative. He said three weeks from now, public service ads would break, followed by a “large ad buy” set to begin airing in April.
He asked the industry to help out by matching ad spend dollar-for-dollar.
Gore, the chairman of Current TV and keynote speaker for the AAAA conference, gave a 20-minute presentation that focused on global warming. He showed images that compared various places on earth, like the North and South Poles, which have been greatly impacted by global warming.
