Foursquare Seeking Fourth Round of Funding With a Valuation of up to $800 Million

Posted on

Foursquare mobileFoursquare is reportedly looking to raise a Series D round of funding for an amount between $50 million and $100 million. According to TechCrunch, Foursquare is seeking this round at a pre-money valuation of $700 million-$800 million, which has a few venture-capital shops raising their eyebrows with skepticism, given the company’s less-than-awesome growth since its redesign in June. A pre-money valuation of $300 million-$400 million might draw more investor interest. While Foursquare lags behind Yelp in terms of usage, it does seem to be a stellar driver of online-to-off-line behavior, with 20 percent of users who search for an establishment on Foursquare Explore checking in to that place within 72 hours.
