Food Marketers Sample Low-Carb Promo

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Kellogg Co., Kraft Foods, General Mills and Unilever are participating in a low-carb promotion running in 50 Wisconsin supermarkets.

The June 2-13 in-store promo showcases low-carb products and uses a carnival-style Carb-o-Wheel to demonstrate the number of carbs in featured products.

Shoppers spin the wheel, decorated with participating products, then guess the carb content to win a trial subscription to Low Carb Energy Magazine. Dieticians and nutritionists give info on low-carb dieting and samples, including Planters Peanuts, Kraft salad dressing, Momentum Bars (General Mills), Carb Options products (Unilever) and Kellogg’s Special K.

The Low Carb Manufacturers Alliance, created the campaign with Blue Chip Health & Wellness, Northbrook, IL, named agency of record in January. It’s first work from the six-month-old LCMA, which plans to offer the promo to other grocers and manufacturers.
