Experian to Cut 200 Jobs

Experian, Orange, CA, will lay off 200 of its 6,000 workers during the next few weeks. The cuts will come across all units in North America.

Experian spokesperson Matthew Bessler did not break down the layoffs by department or facility, but indicated that as far as he knew no offices would be closed as a result.

Employees are also being urged to take a portion of their vacation time sooner, rather than later, this year. While the company alluded to this in an internal e-mail, it did not set specific guidelines for taking time off.

Experian had other layoffs within the last 12 months. In mid-summer 2001, the company completed a round of personnel reduction estimated at more than 250 employees. Total layoffs during 2001 amounted to 340 individuals, according to Bessler.

“The challenges presented by U.S. recession have made it necessary to balance the need to build the enterprise and streamline processes,” Bessler said.
