Cost-Cutting Drives Acxiom Growth

Acxiom Corp. posted net earnings of $15.8 million for the second quarter, an increase over net earnings of $9.2 million in the prior year.

The database marketing services firm reported revenue of $328.9 million for the quarter ended Sept. 30, a decrease from $348.9 million last year.

The Little Rock, AR company’s information services unit posted revenue of $233.6 million for the quarter, a decrease from $245 million in the prior year.
The division reported operating income of $40.6 million, for the quarter, an increase over t$35.9 million last year.

The company reported corporate and other expenses of $14.8 million for the quarter, a decrease from $29.3 million in the prior year.

“We have reduced our operating expenses and improved our operating cash flow in this difficult economic environment,” said CEO John Mayer, in a statement. “We are focused on managing the business efficiently during these challenging times while we implement the strategies and measures in our global sales organization that we believe will lead to renewed revenue growth for Acxiom.”
