Cingular to Provide SEC Content to Subscribers
Cingular Wireless has been named the exclusive telecommunications sponsor of the collegiate athletic Southeastern Conference.
The multi-year deal gives the largest wireless carrier in the country, the rights to provide exclusive video content from key SEC events, which may include highlights and press conferences, via its service.
Cingular also becomes the exclusive presenting sponsor of SECsports.com , the official Web site of the conference. The site has been rebranded as SECsports.com powered by Cingular. Cingular will get branding presence during key SEC championship competitions and other SEC events, including football and basketball.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
The SEC for formed in 1933 and includes 12 member institutions: Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. Cingular has 57.3 million customers.
The deal was made through Host Communications, which manages the corporate sponsorship program for the SEC.
