AOL Shutters Two Call Centers

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

AOL announced it will close call centers in New Mexico and Arizona as part of its transformation from a fee-based subscription service to an ad-supported online company.

The closures will lay off 1,300 call representatives in Albuquerque and Tucson. AOL said it will also sell a call center on Ogden UT.

Earlier this year, AOL parent Time Warner said it intended to reduce its global work force by 75% or about 5,000 employees, primarily in the call center and customer care divisions. AOL closed a call center in Jacksonville FL in May.
