All the World’s a Sunny Day: Kodak
Eastman Kodak Co. knows the importance of capturing memories—especially at historic events.
As the official imaging sponsor of the Winter Games, Kodak is sending four winners from its Go For the Gold sweepstakes to Torino as on-site photojournalists over the six days of The Games. To qualify, consumers submitted a picture and story describing their greatest “Olympic moment.”
Further, sweeps winners get exclusive access to venues. Photos from the games will be posted online at Kodakgallery.com after the Feb. 10 opening ceremonies.
With advances in the digital environment, “there’s a whole new world of sharing,” says David Kassnoff, Kodak spokesman, Rochester, NY.
Kodak, a top Olympic global sponsor since 1984, has renewed its sponsorship through 2008. It will further showcase its digital technology through a partnership with the European program Daring Girls. Organized by European broadcaster EuroSport, the program lets two women travel to the Olympics and air stories for viewers in Germany, Italy, France and the U.K. They’ll record the atmosphere, parties and flavor of Torino via Kodak V570 cameras.
Kodak will also share Olympic snapshots, including Picture of the Day, from Torino from Feb. 10-25 online at Kodak.com/go/Olympic.
In addition to supplying 300,000 branded badges for security personnel, Kodak plans to distribute 100,000 keepsake translucent flashlights powered by Kodak batteries to attendees during opening and closing ceremonies. For its part, Kodak Japan plans to donate 300 EasyShare V570 cameras to the Japanese Olympic team. Kodak will set up 90 branded receptacles around Olympic venues for attendees to recycle batteries.
