PCH Will Reimburse An Elderly Consumer

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Publishers Clearing House will reimburse an elderly consumer who unsuccessfully spent $6,000 trying to win a PCH sweepstakes.

The Port Washington, NY-based stampsheet mailer told Reuters that it stopped taking orders from Joffee Leggett, 80, Tampa, FL, after being contacted by his family.

The firm will supply Leggett with postage-paid labels for use in returning merchandise he purchased. It will issue a full refund when the merchandise is returned.

However, PCH may find itself issuing other refunds. Wisconsin has sued the firm for alleged deceptive advertising. Attorney General James Doyle said last week that a 79 year-old Wisconsin man spent $10,000 with PCH without winning a prize.
