United Names Dennis Cary CMO; Integrates Loyalty and Marketing

UAL Corp. the holding company of United Airlines, has named Dennis Cary senior vice president and chief marketing and customer officer. The company has also named Graham Atkinson president of Mileage Plus, the company’s loyalty program.

With the move, United is integrating its customer experience and marketing organizations under Cary, who will now be responsible for brand strategy, customer communications, merchandising, united.com and the overall design of the customer experience.

Most recently, Cary was senior vice president of marketing. He will continue to report to John Tague, executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Atkinson, who had been chief customer officer, will focus on developing Mileage Plus into a standalone business, including leveraging the firm’s relationship with key partners. He also reports to Tague. Robert Sahadevan, vice president of Mileage Plus, will report to Atkinson.
