Our Favorite Time of Year

Posted on

This is without a doubt one of our favorite times of year. The end of the year is more than a date on a calendar. There is something truly experiential about it. This time of year simply feels unlike any other, the atmosphere tinged with optimism and a mixture of relief. It beckons for reflection, and for as fast as time flies during this period, it also feels to move, if not more slowly, more serenely.

No year is perfect, and this past year was not without its challenges. Looking back, it seems as though those who focused on value saw their efforts rewarded and that the industry as a whole continues to improve. We might have come across critical at times, but that was only because we would like to see those who add value thrive and for our industry as a whole to secure the future it deserves.

Every end of the year is bittersweet. This year even more so. While there was an incredible amount of the sweet, there was also one difficult pill to swallow, the loss of an industry figure, one of the few, if not only people, that everyone simply loved – Sebastian Quezada. He was not Steve Jobs, touching our lives by changing how we use technology. He was the opposite, people person, touching our lives by showing us what it meant to care about others first and foremost. His legacy is in the relationships he touched without ever realizing he was doing so.

Relationships endure beyond any device, and they are truly priceless. The realities of life, unfortunately, do have a price. That is why we would like to do what Silver Carrot has done, making a donation to a worthwhile cause. Like them, we are donating to The Isabella Quezada Fund. As Silver Carrot wrote, "This fund was created in memory of our dear friend and colleague, Sebastian Quezada, who recently passed away without life insurance or savings, to assist his family with taking care of his beautiful 5-year old daughter’s daily or future needs."

Any and all donations can be sent:

  • PayPal: [email protected]
  • Make Check Payable to:
    Goetz Fitzpatrick LLP
    Reference: Isabella Quezada Trust
    One Penn Plaza
    NY, NY 10119

We hope you had a good enough 2011 to help the Quezada’s with 2012 and beyond.
