Now This Is Hot Mail

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

WE GET LOTS of press releases every day. Some come in plain white envelopes, while others try to catch our eye with fancy paper and fire-engine-red folders.

Nykamp Consulting Group forsook the fire engine and went right for the fire with a recent mailing-or rather the U.S. Postal Service did it for them.

Nykamp’s mailing-likely an announcement of the firm’s recent move to Downers Grove, IL-arrived in our offices extra crispy and sealed in protective plastic bags.

The envelopes were badly burned and appeared to possibly have had water dumped on them to quench the flames.

The USPS envelope described this treatment as “damaged in handling” in the apology on the plastic bag.

When we told Nykamp Consulting Group president Melinda Nykamp about the burnt offerings DIRECT had received, she laughed and said it was the first she’d heard of any of her press releases being “too hot to handle.”

“Oh well,” she said. “At least it got your attention, didn’t it?” -BN
