Looking for the Best in the U.S.: Call for entries to the PRO Awards 2000.

Marketing agencies across the U.S. are already submitting entries to promo Magazine’s PRO Awards 2000 program. Now in its 10th year, the PRO Awards continue to be the premier standard of recognition within the promotion marketing industry.

Industry veterans may notice that the competition’s name is a little shorter this year. That’s because the “World” portion of the former World PRO Awards of Excellence has been turned over to the Association of Promotion Marketing Agencies Worldwide (APMA), which has rebranded the program as The Globe Awards internationally (see story, pg 97).

The new U.S.-focused PRO Awards are open to promotion, advertising, and direct-marketing agencies, consultancies, and client companies involved in promotion. Campaigns must have run between March 1, 1999, and April 30, 2000 to qualify. Entries will be reviewed anonymously by a panel of experienced brand professionals from marketing companies and agencies, who will judge on concept, originality, execution, and results. Winners of Gold PRO Awards will be automatically entered into the worldwide Globes competition.

The PRO Awards features 17 judging categories: Best Multi discipline Promotional Campaign, Best Use of Advertising, Best Use of Direct Marketing, Best Use of Innovative Communication Strategy, Best Use of New Media, Most Effective Long-Term Promotional Marketing Campaign, Best Activity Generating Brand Awareness and Trial Recruitment, Best Activity Generating Brand Volume, Best Activity Generating Brand Loyalty; Best Business-to-Business Campaign; Best Retail Account-Specific Activity; Best Dealer or Sales Force Activity; Best Idea or Concept; Best Use of Art Direction; Best Use of Copywriting; Best Use of Photography; Best Use of Illustration.

The entry deadline is June 9. Finalists will be selected and notified in August. A gala luncheon reception and presentation ceremony will honor the winners on October 5 during promo Expo 2000 in Chicago. In addition to being featured in a special PRO Award section in promo Magazine, winners will be showcased in a multimedia video presentation at the awards ceremony as well as in the Creative Gallery, an exhibit that will be on display during promo Expo.
