Jupiter Sells AdRelevance Unit for $8.5 Million

Jupiter Media Metrix has sold AdRelevance to NetRatings for $8.5 million, the Silicon Alley Reporter Daily reported on Wednesday.

AdRelevance is the online ad-spend measurement division of New York-based Jupiter.

NetRatings and Jupiter had announced plans to merge last fall, but called it off when the Federal Trade Commission expressed reservations on anti-trust grounds.

AdRelevance brings to NetRatings a client base of 150, patent applications, trademarks and copyrights. Will Hodgeman, the former president of the Jupiter Media Metrix measurement group, will join the NetRatings management team, according to the report.
