Groupon Acquires Glassmap, a Deals Discovery App Equipped With Photo Filters, VoIP Calling

Posted on

Glassmap logoGroupon has acquired Glassmap, a startup that has created a location-based deals discovery app. In October, Glassmap unveiled a feature enabling local businesses to target users of the app based on their interest, activity and location, which sounds like a nice fit for Groupon Now. Glassmap learns about a user by looking at their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram feeds. It also features its own set of photo filters to help users share their experiences on Facebook and Twitter, along with free in-app messaging and VoIP calls to other Glassmap users. The startup will shut down on Feb. 15. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. (TechCrunch, AllThingsD)
