Musicland Stores Corp., Minnetonka, MN, signed Pepsi-Cola Co. of Somers. NY to sponsor Bandemonium, the latest rendition of an annual talent search conducted by Music-land’s Sam Goody chain.

Stores in 10 cities will host events where judges from Request magazine choose from 350 bands. Judges will pick two bands in each market to compete for a slot as opener for The Fly tour this winter. Two regional winners will play a Spring Break concert in Panama City, FL, after which the grand prize-winning band will be chosen, and awarded cash, musical equipment, studio time, and a producer to help cut a demo tape.

This is Sam Goody’s fifth annual band search. The last four, dubbed UnVailed, tied into a Vail, CO, snowboarding competition.
