Facebook Loosens Rules for Businesses Running Promotions

With a change to its Pages Terms, Facebook is making it easier for Page administrators to run promotions on its social network. The old version of the terms required businesses to run promotions via apps only; the updated version lifts that restriction and allows businesses to administer promotions on their Timelines and in Facebook apps.

Facebook notes that businesses can now collect entries by asking users to post on their Page, or comment or like a Page post; collect entries by having users send a message to the Page; and use likes as a voting mechanism.

However, personal Timelines are not allowed to be included in promotions
