Best Western International and MasterCard International have teamed up to send a loyalty program member and a guest to Germany this summer for the 2006 FIFA World Cup soccer tournament, and a special meeting with Hall of Fame soccer superstar, Pelé.

Members of the hotel chain’s free loyalty program, Gold Crown Club International, will be automatically entered into the “Best Western International/MasterCard FIFA World Cup Sweepstakes” with each worldwide stay through April 30 when they use their MasterCard cards as their method of payment.

Cardholders can obtain additional sweepstakes information at Bestwestern.com/vip.

The grand-prize winner will receive a five-night trip for two to Munich, including tickets to the World Cup’s opening ceremonies and opening match. At a pre-tournament reception, the recipient will also meet the sport’s most heralded player, Pelé.

The prize also includes airfare, a $500 MasterCard Gift Card and dinner.

“MasterCard and Best Western seek to help frequent travelers have extraordinary experiences along their journeys,” said Julie Blacklock, VP- travel and entertainment industries acceptance, MasterCard International, in a statement. “Both organizations enjoy a strong global presence, and we are proud to offer Best Western’s Gold Crown Club customers and MasterCard cardholders a prize with a worldwide appeal as broad as that of the FIFA World Cup.”

First- and second-place prizes include FIFA World Cup tickets and autographed memorabilia. Winners will be announced in May.

Print, online banner ads and hotel signage including front desk table tents and posters support.

Don Jagoda Associates, Melville, NY, handles for Best Western International. Norwalk, CT-based Octagon executes the program and prizes for MasterCard International.
