Newcastle Brown Ale Bows Music Blogger Contest

Newcastle Brown Ale is out with a contest that gives the winner tickets to a variety of music events and the assignment of reporting on a blog about each event.

The winner of the contest will attend eight events, starting with the Reading Festival in London. The rest of the events, which have yet to be announced, will be in the U.S. A specially created micro-site will be the spot for the “official music bloggerz” to offer up content about the experiences.

SPIN magazine and Napster are partners in the contest.

Contestants enter by writing an essay that answers the question: “Which artist (band or solo performer; active or no longer performing) is/was the best liver performer and why do you think so?” The entries are submitted at Newcastlebrown.com starting today through June 30. A panel of SPIN writers and Newcastle reps will judge the essays.

The winner gets to bring a friend to the events where two “premium” seats via SPIN will be available. The two also get full accommodations and spending money.

“The goal for our music contest was to once again raise the promotional bar,” said Bill Wetmore, Scottish & Newcastle’s marketing director, in a statement. “We love the idea of having our winner, someone who obviously loves both Newcastle and music, be highly involved in the promotion, not just winning a prize and receiving it in the mail.”
