A 6.5-million name Smoker’s Database is available from Loring Direct Response, New City, NY.
The file was compiled from consumer surveys conducted by telephone, then followed by direct mail questionnaires. Selections include names collected seven to 12 months ago for $125 per thousand, 13 to 24 months ago for $100 per thousand, 25 to 36 months ago for $85 per thousand and 37 to 48 months ago for $75 per thousand. All the names have gone through NCOA processing, said Bart Loring, owner of Loring Direct.
Loring told DIRECT Newsline that the list is the largest smokers file offered to direct marketers and telemarketers. “Up to now, [such a list] has always been the private domain of the tobacco companies,” he added.
There are a variety of uses for the list, said Loring. Since it has been marketed only to cigarette smokers, sellers of pipe and cigar products, as well as smoking-cessation devices, may find it valuable. Insurance companies could also use the file to solicit business and as a suppression file, he added.
