Sprinks Rolls Out Sponsored Links for Web Sites and E-Newsletters

About.com has introduced two new sponsored-links products through its Sprinks division.

ContentSprinks provides links to text-based ads on Web pages. DirectSprinks offers links to ads in e-mail newsletters. Both products have rolled out with Forbes.com and iVillage.com. CNET.com launches this week.

Advertisers bid for the top position on Web pages and in e-newsletters. Up to five ads are allowed.

The top ad slot averages a clickthrough rate of 42%, Podell said. The second place averages 25%, and the third averages 18%.

Minimum bids are 20 cents. The bids go as high as $5 based on testing that
