Pig in the City
Last month, Discover Card, Riverwoods, IL, launched its national Babe: Pig in the City promo partnership with Universal Pictures, Hollywood. The promo features an adventure getaway sweepstakes, a retail tie-in with FAO Schwarz and Discover Card’s Babe’s Book of Values that provides special Cashback Bonus awards on Babe and Friends merchandise.
Until Dec. 31, 1998, Discover Card members who use their card to obtain cash advances or make purchases or balance transfers will automatically be entered into the Adventure Giveaway Sweepstakes for an opportunity to win one of 16 family vacations for four to Universal Studios Hollywood or Florida, which will be awarded each month during the promotional period. No purchase is necessary. Cardmembers can enter by sending their names, addresses, and phone numbers on a 3″ by 5″ card to a contest administrator.
In addition, between Oct. 15, 1998, and Dec. 31, 1998, consumers using their Discover Cards at FAO Schwarz for minimum purchases of $75 will receive 10-percent Cashback Bonus awards.
Discover Card will be offering select Babe and Friends licensed merchandise through a special Discover Card Babe’s Book of Values that will be mailed to select members in September and November. Cardholders who purchase products from the Babe’s Book of Value will receive Cashback Bonus awards when they send in a receipt, UPC bar code, and promo certificate.
The Discover Card’s Babe’s Book of Values features merchandise including: The Real Live Babe interactive plush toy from Equity Toys; select Babe CD-ROM educational software titles form Sound Source Interactive; an Oh Babe! board book and finger puppet gift set from Inchworm Press; and select Babe and Friends apparel from Glasgow.
