CATALINA MARKETING CORP.:

has named L. Dick Buell, 53, as CEO and a member of the company’s board of directors. Buell succeeds Michael O’Brien, a company founder, former chairman and CEO, who has served as interim CEO since November. Buell has worked as CEO of Foodbrands American Inc., and CEO of Griffith Laboratories, Inc. as well as VP-marketing at Kraft, Inc.

SESAME WORKSHOP: has named Global Licensing Ltd. as its licensing representative for the Sesame Street brand in New Zealand.

141 WORLDWIDE: Chicago, hired agency veteran Larry Deutsch as exec VP-engagement partner. He had been head of new business for Upshot, Chicago, now owned by Equity Marketing.

THE MARKETING ARM: Dallas, is launching a graphic services department and named Brad Bishop as the entertainment and sports consultancy’s first-ever creative director overseeing the new division. Bishop had been at The Promotion Network and earlier at The Marketing Continuum, both Dallas. The Marketing Arm is owned by Omnicom Group and has offices in Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles and New York City.

RED LOBSTER: selected Dallas-based The Richards Group as advertising agency of record this week. The Richards Group will be responsible for developing promotions, strategic planning, advertising development, and media planning for Red Lobster’s 670 restaurants in the U.S. and Canada. The selection was made after a nationwide agency review, which included submissions from Grey Worldwide and Euro RSCG Tatham Partners.

ABN AMRO: announced a 20 million Euro sponsorship of two boats to compete in the 2005-2006 Volvo Ocean Race. The Amsterdam-based international bank is hoping to further strengthen its international brand awareness by participating in the round the world yacht race, which boasts a cumulative global TV audience of more than 800 million.

JORDAN: a division of Nike, Inc., last week introduced the Air Jordan XIX, the latest version of the Air Jordan basketball shoe franchise. Print, online and television marketing support the launch.

BIG BOY RESTAURANTS: introduced three new broiled low carb seafood entrees to its menu. The new entrees, debuting in time for Lent, include a broiled seafood platter, broiled scallops and garden vegetable cod. All meals are under 10 net carbs and are served with sautéed garden vegetables and a salad.

GRAND CENTRAL MARKETING: New York City, hired three directors and opened a Los Angeles office to be managed by senior account director SeeLun Mak. New to the event and promotion agency are account director John Cordero, working on NASCAR programs; public relations director Keith Fernbach, working on p.r. for Meow Mix Co.; and assistant account director Vanessa Rodriguez, who will manage ESPN’s 25th anniversary mobile marketing tour.
