Majority of Adults Prefer Direct Mail: Survey

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

(Direct Newsline)—More than half of all U.S. adults prefer receiving advertising and promotional material through the mail as opposed to 1% through telemarketing, according to a survey by the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM).

In addition, 19% percent of all adults prefer receiving advertising and promotional messages in billing inserts, and 5% prefer e-mail.

“It’s likely that direct mail advertising and promotion will continue as an important component in a company’s marketing plan as customer-initiated restrictions on other forms of communications into the home, such as do-not-call-lists, become more prevalent,” said Clay Collier, Alexandria, VA-based CTAM Vice President of Research.

The study surveyed 1,007 randomly selected U.S. adults in August.
