Get Framed

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

TALK ABOUT a Web site with frames!

Artuframe (www.artuframe.com), as in “art you frame,” allows you to do just that: pick out a piece of art, frame it, see how it looks and buy it, all online.

The site, launched in April, features “tens of thousands” of prints and posters, from Old Masters to Modern Masters and everything in between. There are also works by celebrities and those featuring sports, movies, photography and nature.

After finding your art treasure, choose your glazing (glass or Plexiglas, glare or non-glare) and frame-metal (frosted gold? German silver?) or wood (natural oak? cherry wood with beaded lip?).

Another cool thing: Because all the pictures, mats and frames add up to a billion combinations (their claim; we haven’t done the math), Artuframe has a recommendation service. It uses the same recommendation engine as Amazon.com, CDNow and others-GroupLens from Net Perceptions-but instead of making ratings according to what you buy or what you’ve told them you’re interested in, Artuframe does it based simply on what kind of art you’ve looked at.

Oh-and yes, the site was designed with frames.
