Experian CEO Skilling Announces Retirement
Experian North America chairman and CEO D. Van Skilling has announced his retirement from both positions, as well as deputy chairman of Experian Group, effective March 31.
But as Skilling put it in an exclusive interview with DIRECT Newsline, he’s not going to sit in a rocker on his front porch. He will remain on the Experian Global Board and will continue to chair the company’s Consumer Advisory Council.
Skilling had been with Experian, and its predecessor TRW, for 29 years serving as chairman and CEO of Experian North America during the last two and a half years.
Regarding the future of Experian, Skilling feels that the biggest opportunities for the information solutions industry will come in the e-commerce arena. But, he cautions, as that frontier opens up, there will be privacy concerns about the information the industry stewards will escalate, and it will have to be ever-diligent against inappropriate use.
News about replacements and changes in the company’s North American operations will be “the subject of further announcements,” according to a statement. But Skilling says that the company has “very good succession planning” and anticipates that his replacement(s) will come from within the company.
