Many brands are offering consumers the chance to star in TV commercials; now Dr Pepper has teamed with Nintendo to offer a shot at appearing in a new video game through a holiday promotion called “Be You. Be In the Game.”
From November through December, the under-the-cap promotion will offer the chance for a consumer’s likeness to appear in an upcoming Nintendo video game. Dr Pepper is also seeding an additional 3,500 prizes, including Nintendo GameCube systems, Game Boy Advance systems and 250,000 coupons for Dr Pepper 12-packs.
Dr Pepper will support the promotion with $3 million in TV spots, as well as outdoor advertising. Point-of-sale materials will include displays shaped like a Game Boy Advance system and featuring graphics that change from a text promotional message to an image of a man “trapped” inside the Game Boy Advance screen.
