As part of its sponsorship of the fourth annual Latin Grammy Awards, Burger King kicks of a summer concert series Aug. 21.
The series will take place in New York City, Los Angeles, Miami, Orlando, Chicago, Dallas and Houston. Plus, BK will host four block parties in Southern Florida. All of the events culminate with the awards airing on Sept. 3 on CBS. Miami, FL-based BK is working with the Latin Recording Academy on the events.
BK is also putting together an “e-Latin Grammy Carreras y Musica” education initiative through which a panel of music industry experts visit 26 schools in the U.S. and Latin America.
Elsewhere, Mike Ellis was appointed executive VP and chief development officer, reporting to CEO Brad Blum at Burger King. Previously, Ellis worked for Darden Restaurant Group, which includes Olive Garden, Red Lobster and Seasons 52.
