A pin on Pinterest has a useful life that’s thousands of times longer than that of a tweet or Facebook post. The long tail of a pin can last beyond 30 days, while tweets and Facebook posts can become obsolete in a matter of hours. This is because Twitter and Facebook are more about immediacy than Pinterest, which is about ideas and inspiration A new study from Piqora notes that Pinterest’s virality ratio increased 42% from the fourth quarter of 2012 to the first quarter of 2013, indicating that marketers are getting smarter.
