Domain Registrations Rise 28% in Q2: Verisign

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Total Internet domain name registrations reached an all-time high of 82.9 million for the second quarter, up 28% from last year and 8% over the past quarter according to VeriSign Inc.

In addition, the total number of “.com” and “.net” domain names grew to 44.2 million in the second quarter, up 30% over 34 million last year.

The infrastructure services organization attributed this growth to price promotions, increased product bundling and the continued use of domain names to generate pay-per-click advertising revenue.
