Nestl Candies Sweeps Touted on 64 Million Wrappers

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Seven Nestlé USA candy brands this month broke an on-pack/online sweeps that gives away music downloads and four grand-prize trips to hang out with different bands.

The VIP Music Experience targets kids with game codes on 64 million wrappers of Nestlé Crunch, 100 Grand, Butterfinger, Baby Ruth, SweeTARTS, Spree and Shockers. Instant-win packs with grand prizes play music when opened. Packs with music download prizes carry a redemption code that consumers enter online to access tunes to download. Winners get 10 songs (50,000 winners) or five songs (100,000).

The grand-prize trips vary by brand, but all feature time with a band. Crunch and 100 Grand will award a three-day trip to Los Angeles and an afternoon with hip-hop band B2K. Butterfinger gives a six-day trip to tour with Canadian punk pop band Simple Plan for three concerts, including sound checks. Baby Ruth awards a three-day trip to a SmashMouth pop concert with the winner introducing the band. SweeTARTS, Spree and Shockers give away a private acoustic concert by Stacie Orrico for 50 friends at the winner’s home. The sweeps runs through November.

A separate yearlong Online DJ Sweepstakes awards a trip for two to Los Angeles to see DJ Paul Oakenfold perform and spend an afternoon shopping a music store with him. Three first-prize winners get a Philips MP3 key chain; second prize (3) is a Philips digital camera key chain; 200 third-prize winners get a full-length CD. Consumers who enter that sweeps at each brand’s site get access to the site’s VIP Lounge for music videos and movie trailers.
