MSN Uses Online Hunt to Drive Holiday Sales

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

MSN has kicked off an online scavenger hunt that leads to $100,000 in cash prizes. The campaign sends players across 10 of its sites digging for clues among a range of its products during this critical holiday shopping period.

The MSN Holiday Challenge is getting help from four celebrities who appear in videos to share clues that direct players to various sections of MSN including MSN Entertainment, MSN Shopping, MSN Tech & Gadgets and MSN Lifestyle.

Once participants have answered three questions they are automatically entered for a chance at the prizes.

The celebrities include: Al Roker, star of NBC’s The Today Show; Kristin Cavallari, star of MTV’s Laguna Beach; and Jerry Rice, the NFL Super Bowl MVP who was selected to the Pro Bowl 13 times and was recently on Dancing With the Stars and Perez Hilton, a Internet celebrity insider and blogger.

The promotion began yesterday and runs through Dec. 20. Mr. Youth LLC, New York, is handling the promotion for MSN.

MSN attracts more than 465 million unique users worldwide each month.
