Microsoft ViralSearch Can Help Marketers Gauge Popularity of Shared Content, See Twitter Trends

Microsoft logoMicrosoft is set to introduce its latest research product, called ViralSearch, this week. ViralSearch does pretty much what you’d expect it to do: The tool tracks trends on Twitter to analyze how bits of content are shared and how viral they are.

The resulting visual representations use “trees” and time lines to show how a piece of content is shared on Twitter. It also uses clusters of bubbles to show independent trees for a given story. ViralSearch also lets users see the content shared by a specific user and how popular it was.

It’s currently just a research product for now, but it’s clear that a product like ViralSearch released to the masses would offer a powerful way for marketers to not only measure the popularity of their shared content but also see what trends they might be able to leverage for their strategies.
