McDonald’s Unlocks Pirates Booty for Happy Meals

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

McDonald’s has mapped out a summer of premium treasure tied to Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, with Happy Meal toys inspired by the film.

From July 7 to Aug. 3, with the purchase of a Happy Meal or Mighty Kids Meal participating McDonald’s customers receive one of eight toys. A pirate bandana and inflatable sword encourage make-believe, while a skull telescope features a red light-up eye for spotting offshore adventure. Kids who quiz the “Aye” Ball (shake the skull and ask a yes or no question) get answers in fun pirate language. Five-inch plush pirate and skeleton character dolls are followed by an adventure journal. Finally, a secret treasure chest, with a separate key, comes packed with tattoos and stickers inside.

To celebrate this final tie with a Disney film, McDonald’s is offering families the chance to create lifelong memories in the Search for the Golden Treasure Happy Meal Game. With winning game pieces randomly found inside McDonald’s Happy Meals, 25 families will have the chance to win a trip for four to experience pirate adventure on the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida or Disneyland Resort in California.
