McDonald’s Goes Wireless
Customers at McDonald’s restaurants in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut can now super-size their meals with Internet wireless access.
Seventy-five restaurants in the Tri-State area will provide the AT&T service free throughout the month and charge $2.99 a day from there on.
The move is an expansion of a test started in March at 10 McDonald’s in New York City. The pilot program is the second of three Internet tests to be launched this summer. By the end of the year, hundreds of restaurants in the Tri-State area, Chicago and the San Francisco Bay Area will offer wireless service.
Cometa Networks, San Francisco, provided the wireless network for Oak Brook, IL-based McD and all restaurants use the Intel Centrino mobile technology. The program is being promoted with P-O-P displays and a list of participating restaurants is at www.mcdwireless.com.
