Layoffs Reported at Call Centers
News reports said last Friday that multichannel merchant Hanover Direct was closing its Hanover, PA call center and consolidating it with a call center in Wisconsin.
The plan will cost 105 jobs in Pennsylvania, according to the reports. These layoffs will occur in April, they continued.
Hanover personnel director Ed Weinstock said the remaining 65 employees at the center will continue working there on corporate accounts and technology services, according to WGAL.com.
In another development, Sitel plans to lay off 82 people in its Madison, WI facility, including 79 customer service representatives and three coaches, according to the Madison Capital Times. This will happen in 60 days, the paper said.
But Sitel said it would hire 600 employees at its Starkville, MS facility, according to the Starkville Daily News. In addition, from 100 to 150 temporary jobs will be filled between May and December, the Daily News continued.
These hires include inbound tech support and customer service staff, the paper added.
