Impulse Marketing Group Acquired

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Impulse Marketing Group, an online lead generation and affiliate marketing company focusing on the financial services sector, has been acquired by an undisclosed private buyer.

The price of the acquisition of Atlanta-based was not disclosed. Impulse runs lead-generation campaigns, primarily using e-mail for advertising and affiliate marketing programs.

AdMedia partners is the investment bank that managed the acquisition for Impulse. AdMedia managing director Seth Alpert said, “Demand for lead generation and performance marketing has been increasing dramatically because of its effectiveness, measurability and low risk profile for advertisers, a trend that has been reinforced by the overall migration of ad expenditures to the Internet.”

Impulse is the defendant in a lawsuit filed in federal court by an antispam activist alleging that the company and its agents violated Washington state anti-spam laws. Impulse moved for dismissal, arguing that the federal CAN-SPAM Act pre-empted state statutes on unpermissioned e-mail. The court rejected Impulse’s argument and denied the dismissal motion in July 2005.
