More Than Half of Online Ads Not Viewable

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Google this week released a study showing that 56.1 percent of all the impressions served on the Google display platforms may never have been actually seen by anyone due to viewability issues.

This Business Insider story covers the Google report, and focuses on the reasons why many ads aren’t images-1being seen by online consumers. One big one is ad location on a web page. According to Google says the most viewable position for advertisements is not at the very top of the page, but instead just above the page fold (or the lowest point on the page before a user has to scroll). While this above the fold slot is not always viewable, it is the most likely place an ad will be seen by users.
