Global Sports Changes Name, Announces Client Wins for Media Unit

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Global Sports Inc. has changed its name to GSI Commerce Inc.

The company has also launched Global-QVC Solutions, a division that specializes in coordinating direct response and e-commerce programs for television networks and cable channels.

The new corporate name reflects the firm’s expanded focus. It now provides e-commerce services to a number of vertical categories beyond sporting goods firms.

Once the name change is approved by its shareholders, the company will also change its NASDAQ stock symbol to “GSIC” from “GSPT.” The company will continue to be headquartered in King of Prussia, PA.

Initial clients for the new division include Comedy Central, PAX TV, The Golf Channel and TV Land. Global-QVC is a joint venture between GSI Commerce and QVC Inc., a direct response television and e-commerce marketer.

In a separate development, Damon Mintzer has been named president of Global-QVC Solutions. Mintzer had previously been senior vice president and general manager of an Internet licensing and media company.
