Gap Celebrates Pride Month with T-Shirts, Donations
June is Pride Month, a time to commemorate and celebrate the LGBT community with events and parades across the globe.
Gap is tapping into its long history of promoting equality and celebrating with a partnership with the United Nations Foundation to promote equal rights and fair treatment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) people globally as part of the UN Free & Equal program.
The #WearYourPride campaign includes Gap branded Pride t-shirts and Pride eGift cards available from Athleta, Banana Republic, Banana Republic Factory, Gap, Gap Factory and Old Navy.
Thirty-percent of net sales from the t-shirts, available through October, will be donated to the UN Foundation to benefit Free & Equal. T-shirts will be available online as well as select stores in the U.S., Canada, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Taiwan and the U.K. Pride t-shirts. For every Pride eGift Card sold this month, $2 will be donated to the UN Foundation in support of Free & Equal up to $25,000.
Gap and the UNF are building on a joint effort last year to raise awareness of the Free & Equal campaign.
“The UN Free & Equal campaign is working globally to open people’s hearts and minds and promote greater respect for the rights of LGBTI people,” UN Free and Equal Campaign Director Charles Radcliffe says. “With Gap Inc.’s help and the support of its customers, the campaign will this year reach more people in more countries than ever before.”
