Zenni Optical’s Customer Service Isn’t 20/20

Posted on by Tim Parry

I’m a fan of cheap (inexpensive) eyeglasses. I’ve probably spent less with Zenni Optical the past four years than I did the last pair of glasses I bought from my optometrist in 2004.

The site has evolved a little over the years. Instead of just grouping eyeglasses by price, you can see them by style and material, and you now have some alternate views.

But when you check out, you are not e-mailed a confirmation, a thank you or a receipt. That’s not good if you’re paying with your flexible spending account, and the issuer asks for a receipt.

That happened to me. I was able to find my order history (by chance happening). I made a printout. Now we’ll see if it will fly.

When I completed the checkout process, I was brought to a page that read “please print and save for your records.” But if your printer is tucked away somewhere in your junk room, that doesn’t help. I saved the page, figuring I could print it out at work, but all I got was a .php file.

Not good.
