One of Our Own is Hurt—Fundraiser is Staged

Posted on by Patty Odell

It was April 19 when Lauren Murphy, an account supervisor at SoHo Experiential, was taking a morning run while on business in Los Angeles. She was in training for a marathon and suffered severe head trauma when stuck by a car.

She had life-saving brain surgery there at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.

I don’t know Lauren, but I’m touched by the efforts of SoHo to help her. On July 31, the agency, in conjunction with HelpHOPELive, with host The Murphathon to benefit the Midwest/West Traumatic Brain Injury Fund in honor of Lauren and to raise funds to help cover the uninsured costs of Lauren’s recovery. The fundraiser is at 6:30 pm at The Mercedes Club, 550 W 54th St. in New York City.

The event will be lively, including a live and silent auction, a treadmill marathon and raffle.

A number of sponsors have already agreed to donate time, product or auction items, including Rémy Cointreau USA, The Macallan, Brugal Rum, Brown Forman USA, Dos Equis, Café Metro, Mercedes Club, Stack Wines, William Grant and Sons, Asics and others.

Tickets are $100 each ($75 for experiential marketing industry members) and can be purchased online. Let’s rally for the cause—I hope to see you there.
