Ask Jeeves Inc., an internet search engine provider, has a awarded its creative/advertising business to TBWA\Chiat\Day in San Francisco and media buying business to OMD. The budget was not disclosed.

Ask Jeeves spokeswoman Carrie Bishop noted that the company did not advertise during the past two years while it further developed its search engine technology for its primary search site www.ask.com.

The agencies will handle all media strategy, creative efforts, media buying and creative execution.

The company had not decided at deadline what vehicles it will use for its campaign which it expects to launch at the end of May or beginning of June. “But I can tell you it will not include TV,” Bishop said.

Ask Jeeves selected TBWA\Chiat\Day after a competitive review of advertising agencies nationwide. Bishop declined to elaborate.

This account is the first win for the San Francisco office under newly appointed president Michael Allen and North America creative director Chuck McBride. TBWA\London also handles Ask Jeeves at Ask.co.uk in the UK.
