14 Brands Show Us How to Use Instagram

Not sure what to do with Instagram or its 600 million active monthly users?

If that stat isn’t enough of an incentive to give it a try, here’s a few more reasons. The mobile photo-sharing app is a big hit with those sought-after Millennials, ages 18 to 34. Almost 50% of Instagram users fall into that age bracket and spend time sharing lots of photos and videos. They easily share those posts with their other social networks too like Twitter, Tumblr, Flickr and Facebook.

Instagram continues to add new features. In August, Instagram Stories launched allowing users to share multiple photos and videos in a slide-show format, but with a twist—they vanish after 24 hours. Last month, marketers were offered the opportunity to run immersive, full screen ads in the stories. Instagrammers keep an eye on all this activity via their news feeds.

More good news for marketers is that 70% of Instagrammers follow a business. Here, you get lessons from 14 of the “best brands” using Instagram—that’s according to Hubspot—including Califia Farms, the Paris Opera Ballet and Staples.

Califia, a natural beverage company, made the list because of the way it uses Instagram to show off its award-winning bottle design that it says is “incredibly disruptive—in a positive way.” It features the packaging in a variety of settings, whether through still images or videos, like the video that shows a “party of one” mixing up, and then enjoying, a Ginger Lime Margarita.

Airbnb, not on the Hubspot list, uses Instagram Stories to promote Trips on Airbnb, a new product that connects like-minded travelers with local experts through 15-second videos. In one video, “Miso Culture,” travelers gather around a table to learn and prepare a meal, then sit down to enjoy it together.

Sure, Instagram is not for every marketer or brand, but if you’re willing to jump in you might find some surprising results. Read the article …
